Matt Grzelcyk, a 31-year-old unrestricted free agent defenseman, has signed a professional tryout agreement with the Chicago Blackhawks. Last season, he played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he scored one goal and accumulated 40 points in 82 games, averaging over 20 minutes of ice time per game. Grzelcyk, who stands at 5 feet 10 inches tall and shoots left, previously played under a one-year contract worth $2.75 million. He was selected 85th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2012 NHL Draft and has since accumulated a total of 26 goals and 175 points across 527 games played for both the Bruins and Penguins.
